Denver Mountain Journal (denvermountainjournal.com) is a personal publication written by Mark Lindgren in Denver, Colorado. This page explains what the site collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What the site collects
- Your email address, if you sign up for the Field Letter. It is stored in MailPoet on this site, and the emails are delivered through the MailPoet Sending Service. You get a confirmation email first, and nothing else is sent until you confirm. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- Visit statistics. The site uses Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to count visits and see which pieces people read. It uses cookies and records things like the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and how you found the site. I use it only to understand readership. I don’t run ads.
- Emails you send me. If you write to mark@denvermountainjournal.com, I keep your message so I can reply.
- Server logs. The web host keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
What the site doesn’t do
There are no comments, no reader accounts and no advertising. I don’t sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and the site will still work.
Embedded content
Some pieces may include videos or maps embedded from other sites, such as YouTube. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited that site, which may collect data and set its own cookies.
Services this site uses
- MailPoet (by Automattic): newsletter sign-ups and delivery
- Google: Analytics and Search Console
- Namecheap: domain and web hosting
How long information is kept
Your subscriber record stays until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ retention settings. Emails you send me are kept as long as I need them to correspond with you.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in any email. To see, correct or delete information I hold about you, email mark@denvermountainjournal.com and I will take care of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, I will update the date at the top of this page.
